As you spend more time in the sport of mushing it’s important to learn how to make some simple lines and line sections. Dogs are very hard on equipment and it can easily break or fray. Some of our cable gangline sections have lasted up to four years and the poly tugs nine years. But eventually, everything wears out. Especially neckline snaps.

Making a leader coupler or neckline section for your gangline out of 16-strand hollow braid polyethylene rope is super easy with fids! We like to use the 8mm vs the 6mm some mushers use as it adds more longevity and strength to the line. The bronze snaps are designed to fail if there is too much pressure put on them so don’t worry about a dog getting injured.

You can also use this fidding method to make tuglines and mainline sections.
