If there’s anything besides running and feed time that sled dogs love, is new straw day!

Good, clean, hollow straw that doesn’t break down easily is an excellent natural insulator for sled dog houses. Most dogs will move the straw around and make their beds accordingly. From October through April we supplement their houses about every 3 weeks or so, or if the temps are going to drop below zero we will add a little more.

Their houses are big enough for them to fit inside, but not too big so they can’t heat it up with their bodies. For them, it’s like us putting on clean fresh sheets and blankets on our bed.
