Harness breaking puppies is always entertaining! It’s a lot of fun watching them learn how to run in harness and figure out how to manage the gangline. By using a tether at the kennel it automatically trains them how to get untangled in a hurry.

Young dogs can start at 6-7 months old, slow, easy, and short. The old dogs don’t want to run fast like the racing age dogs so we have them out front it works out perfect. A dogs natural instinct is to chase so puppies are always at the back helping them focus forward. We run them in a single slot so they’re not banging around on their partner.

We do about 7 mph and only 1.5 miles until they improve and want to go a little faster 2-3 times per week. They don’t race or run with the young fast adults until their growth plates are closed at 18 months.
